Exploring Fisherman’s Cove

Ever feel like sometimes you just need to get in the car and drive?

When I get the urge to flee to the oceanside, my favourite place to escape to is Fisherman’s Cove in Eastern Passage! At least once a month you can find me strolling the boardwalk and taking in the sights.

Being from Cape Breton, this little local attraction makes me feel right at home with its proximity to the ocean and little shops. Even the ice cream shop always had my all-time favourite flavour—Tiger! (The yellow one, not the orange one.) And with the sandy beaches, it makes bringing a toddler with me easy.

What is Fisherman’s Cove:

Fisherman’s Cove is a wonderfully quaint and restored 200-year-old fishing village. Rich in history, it offers visitors a peek into the past with a variety of modern-day activities and events for the entire family. They are located in Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia at the entrance to the Halifax Harbour, just 20 minutes from downtown Halifax. Stroll the picturesque boardwalk and visit the many shops and eateries where you will find delicious food, Maritime crafts, local paintings, unique folk art, and souvenirs to bring home.

Why I love exploring Fisherman’s Cove

It has all my favourite things: restaurants, cute little gift shops, ice cream, fudge, water views, a beach and a nice walking trail!

I love heading to Fisherman’s Cove because you can spend hours there or you can spend 10 minutes. There’s a little something for everyone!

My MUST haves when I go to Fisherman’s Cove:

  1. Tiger Ice Cream & Homemade fries at What’s The Scoop

  2. Fudge at Fudge Chicks ( Seriously it’s the BEST fudge and so many flavours!)

  3. Homemade Bath Bombs ( you can find some at a few gift shops)

  4. An appetizer or drink on the patio at Boondocks

And then dropping into the little gift shops and finding treasures that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. The colourful buildings always put a smile on my face!

If you have never been to Fisherman’s Cove or it’s been YEARS I challenge you to jump in the car this summer and head out to explore! There’s something for everyone!

And seriously, isn’t summer all about ice cream and finding somewhere new to enjoy?

Until next time,

Kerra
